Melissa is a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in psychotherapy with children, teens, and adults. Melissa adopts an eclectic approach to therapy, incorporating the humanistic principles of Carl Rogers along with various CBT techniques that help her clients to relax, improve their self-awareness, and alleviate symptoms. In addition to her clinical training, Melissa is a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner and a depth and somatic psychotherapist. Her work emphasizes a holistic body–mind approach to healing—guiding clients to regulate their nervous systems, resolve trauma, and foster a deeper connection with themselves. Melissa has worked in schools, emergency rooms, and inpatient settings for over 18 years in front-line work with children and their families who are experiencing acute mental health crises. That background allows her to meet a client where they are with empathy, calmness, and practical tools to navigate the most tumultuous times of life. At the heart of Melissa’s approach to therapy is the creation of a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can openly share their stories. She guides growth and change with warmth, empathy, and humor. Clients often describe her as approachable and down-to-earth, and she looks forward to working with you. When she’s not supporting clients, Melissa can usually be found with her husband and kids, cheering at a hockey game or ballet recital, or out walking their two dogs. She’s a firm believer that life’s best therapy often happens on long walks, in the carpool line, or over a really good ice cream cone.
