Angelina Rey, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist based in the greater Sacramento area, providing care throughout California. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Angelina is Level 3 Trained in the Gottman Method, a specialized approach for working with couples and relationships. She brings over a decade of experience working with children in various roles—including as a high school cheerleading coach, babysitter, preschool teacher, and leader of extracurricular activities for school-age and middle school groups.
In therapeutic settings, Angelina has worked extensively with children and families through nonprofit and county organizations, with a focus on behavioral mental health. She is passionate about strengthening family relationships and supporting children individually to improve overall mental health. Her goal is to equip clients with tools to improve communication, regulate emotions, change behaviors, build self-understanding, and rebuild trust—helping families and individuals find more effective ways to work through challenges and foster greater harmony in their relationships and homes.
Her therapeutic approach blends client-centered, collaborative, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strategic, family systems, and direct methods. She works to address both present challenges and deeper disruptions in the family system, including trauma, wounds, and misunderstandings. Angelina also incorporates empathy and a non-judgmental stance by sharing personal experiences when appropriate and supportive. Guided by the quotes, “Be who you needed when you were younger,” and “Be the change you want to see in the world,” she brings authenticity and passion to her work every day.
