Anh Thomas, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over nine years of clinical experience and a fourteen-year commitment to serving children and families. Her path into mental health care began in 2010 through volunteer work with children, which sparked a lifelong dedication to understanding human development and supporting emotional well-being across the lifespan.
Anh holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Bachelor of Science in Child Development, both from California State University, Sacramento, following her initial studies in elementary education at Los Rios Community College. Her educational journey reflects a deepening curiosity about the systems and relationships that shape development, ultimately leading her to clinical work rooted in family systems theory and developmental science.
Anh’s professional experience spans a wide range of settings, including schools, nonprofit organizations, and psychiatric hospitals. She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families, and thrives in the dynamic complexity that comes with supporting individuals across different ages and cultural backgrounds. Her clinical expertise centers on treating anxiety, depression, and trauma, with a particular focus on serving BIPOC communities and first-generation families. Her culturally responsive approach recognizes the unique challenges and strengths within marginalized communities, and she integrates this understanding into every aspect of her therapeutic work.
Grounded in Urie Bronfenbrenner’s bio-ecological systems theory, Anh’s practice is shaped by a systemic perspective that views clients within the broader contexts of their family, culture, and environment. This lens informs her work across all levels of care, from engaging caregivers and family systems to collaborating with schools and advocating within larger social structures. She views healing as a relational and systemic process and emphasizes collaboration with caregivers as essential to lasting change, particularly in work with children and adolescents.
Anh is trained in a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions. These tools are integrated within a holistic framework that honors the interconnected influences of cultural values, family dynamics, and systemic challenges on mental health. She is currently pursuing certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to further strengthen her trauma-informed care.
Outside of her clinical work, Anh is deeply nourished by creative and grounding pursuits. She finds renewal through travel, exploring different cultures and deepening her appreciation for the diversity of human experience—a value that seamlessly integrates into her therapeutic worldview. Anh also expresses herself through photography and vlogging, practices that enhance her observational skills, creativity, and ability to see clients from multiple perspectives. Her connection to the natural world is sustained through gardening and tending a small farm, where daily rituals like collecting eggs offer moments of mindfulness and connection to life’s cycles—reminders of growth, renewal, and healing.
Across her career, Anh has remained committed to delivering compassionate, developmentally attuned, and culturally responsive care. Her practice is rooted in a belief that meaningful change occurs not in isolation but through relationships and systems that support and empower individuals and families to thrive.
