Carissa Carter, BCBA, began her career as a behavior therapist in the field of autism and ABA shortly after college, where she discovered a deep passion for supporting children and their families. Motivated to expand her impact, Carissa pursued graduate studies to become a BCBA. Her clinical foundation was further shaped at an interdisciplinary clinic, where she had the privilege of learning alongside professionals in neurology, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, music therapy, and marriage and family therapy. This experience strengthened her commitment to providing holistic, child- and family-centered care for individuals with developmental delays, disabilities, and neurodivergence. Over the years, Carissa has overseen large-scale ABA programs and mentored fellow BCBAs, and is now especially excited to focus more deeply on supporting parents throughout their journey. Carissa’s therapeutic approach is rooted in a family-value-focused, individualized, and compassionate model of ABA. She believes in honoring each person’s unique learning style, preferences, and voice, striving to provide care that is not only effective and evidence-based but also respectful, empathetic, and culturally sensitive. Therapy is seen as a collaborative effort—where families, learners, and clinicians work together as a team toward meaningful, shared goals. By building strong relationships and maintaining open communication, Carissa aims to create an environment that fosters growth, confidence, and long-term success. Outside of work, Carissa enjoys spending time with family, being outside, traveling, and reading. She is a busy parent of three boys ages 6 and under, finding joy in exploring new areas and engaging in adventures with her husband and children.
