Elizabeth Kabahuma, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with five years of experience working with children in community mental health settings, primarily serving foster children and families from low-income households ages 0–21. Her work focuses on supporting children and families who have experienced trauma, challenging transitions, or disruptions, helping them restore healthy functioning in ways that are unique to each family. Elizabeth approaches each family with compassion, tailoring treatment to their individual needs and circumstances. She is trained in evidence-based therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which she uses to provide informed, responsive, and effective care. Elizabeth’s therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based, centering on building partnerships rooted in respect, trust, and shared goals. She views families as the experts in their own lives and works alongside them to identify treatment goals, strengths, values, and cultural practices that can be incorporated into care. Together, they explore what is already working well and build on existing strengths to co-create practical tools and strategies aligned with the family’s unique needs and goals. Whether fostering open communication, enhancing routines, or developing emotional regulation skills, Elizabeth ensures that the process is guided by the family’s voice, honoring their perspective and promoting lasting, meaningful change. Outside of her clinical work, Elizabeth enjoys working out, spending time with her family, traveling, participating in faith-based activities, and watching TV. She understands that inviting someone new into a family’s mental health journey—or even into one’s personal space—can feel vulnerable and overwhelming. Elizabeth is committed to making this process as smooth and supportive as possible, listening without judgment, meeting clients where they are, and working in a way that feels safe and respectful every step of the way.
