Jessica Chesbro, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California who believes every child is unique and deserves specialized treatment that encourages their strengths, affirms their feelings, and empowers them to make healthy choices. Her goal is to help children thrive at home, school, and beyond.
Through a trauma-informed lens, Jessica works extensively with children and families on healthy communication, navigating transitions, managing anxiety, addressing behavioral challenges, and processing and healing from trauma, grief, or abuse.
Jessica utilizes Child-Centered Play Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA) as an entry point into her work with children. She often incorporates art, music, role-play, and creativity to help young clients deepen their understanding of themselves. In addition, she is trained in recognizing and processing the impacts of interpersonal, domestic, and sexual violence, approaching these sensitive topics with a thoughtful and empowering perspective.
In her clinical practice, Jessica employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. She has experience working in school settings and collaborates with families and schools to develop behavioral plans and strategies tailored to a child's specific needs and motivations. Additionally, Jessica works individually with teens to address self-harm, self-esteem, and the challenges of navigating our complex world.
Outside of therapy, Jessica has an extensive puppet collection that she uses daily in her practice. Her favorite puppet is Okra, an ostrich who always eats her vegetables but struggles with thinking before she speaks.
