Soph Ehrlich, LCSW has been passionate about working with children, youth and families since their undergraduate studies at Tufts University, where they double majored in Clinical Psychology and Child Study and Human development, completing their practicum in a Special Education public school classroom. After graduating, they worked at a therapeutic day school in Boston providing social/emotional support to elementary school students with special needs and behavioral challenges. Soph went on to earn a Masters in Social Work from Smith College, working with caregivers and children 0-21 years in New York City, practicing individual, family, and group therapy with a special interest in support LGBTQ youth and their families. Prior to joining Little Otter, they worked in community mental health in San Francisco providing therapy to children ages 6-18 years and their families, dealing with issues related to foster care, adoption, and various mental health needs such as Anxiety, Depression, Autism, and childhood trauma. Most recently, Soph was a high school therapist in the Bay Area. They are so excited about joining Little Otter and meeting your family! Soph's approach is relational, connected, and grounded in the belief that every family has what it takes to grow and heal together. Soph finds joy in learning about different families' cultures, traditions, and practices that make them uniquely able to help their children. They are attuned to how different systems impact families and children, and are excited about helping caregivers find strength in themselves and in their community to support their own and their children's mental health journey. Soph is deeply empathetic and takes a non-judgmental approach when learning about a family's needs and concerns, supporting children and caregivers both separately and together. Outside of work, Soph enjoys cooking, gardening, swimming, and hiking with their dog, Joey!
