Susan Welch, LMFT, has had the privilege of supporting the mental health needs of individuals and families in many facets. After earning her graduate degree through John F. Kennedy University, she became an LMFT, directly working with families and children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses and mental health needs. Prior to joining little Otter, she worked as a Child and Youth Behavioral Military family life Counselor, a Clinical Director, an Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist, and a youth educator, to round out her experience coordinating with caregivers of children with unique behavioral needs; ultimately finding her true passion of providing direct support to caregivers here at Little Otter.
Susan's approach is built upon the belief that caregivers are the experts on their children and family and are the best guide to the therapeutic process. Susan works closely with each caregiver to develop a partnership that is authentic, compassionate, reflective and respectful. Through this therapeutic relationship, Susan works to understand the family's concerns and needs. Susan strongly believes that children thrive when caregivers are supported, heard, and have the resources needed to lead their families.
Outside of work, Susan enjoys making art, spending time at the ocean, and participating in community events.
