Wendy Youngsmith, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over a decade of experience working with children, adolescents, and families within systems of care. Wendy’s career began in the foster and adoption systems in California, where she trained and approved resource families to provide trauma-informed, attachment-based homes. She also directed a play- and attachment-based family program for young children in community mental health settings. More recently, Wendy has worked in telehealth, creating warm and supportive digital therapy spaces, while supervising early-career clinicians to develop their skills through a systems-focused and child-centered lens.
Wendy integrates a wide range of evidence-based practices tailored to each family’s unique needs. Her expertise includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (including trauma-informed CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Strategies informed by Polyvagal Theory, Family Systems approaches (including Internal Family Systems), Narrative Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Incredible Years, and Theraplay. She is passionate about working within the interconnectedness of individuals, families, and communities to promote healing and growth.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that no one exists in isolation and that everyone responds based on their experiences and learning. Wendy fosters a collaborative, empathetic environment where children, adolescents, and their families feel heard, understood, and supported. Whether navigating identity, independence, or new life transitions, her goal is to combine clinical expertise with family insight to create lasting health and connection.
Outside of work, Wendy is an artsy geek who enjoys reading, making and listening to music, hiking, exploring new experiences big and small, and spending quality time with loved ones.
