Carina Avila, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a strong background in supporting children and families across diverse community settings. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Education Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and went on to complete her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at California Baptist University. Carina began her clinical journey as a field-based therapist, providing individual and family therapy to preschool-aged children and their caregivers, while also collaborating closely with teachers in classroom settings. She went on to work with children and families involved in the foster care system, including foster parents, biological families, and interdisciplinary teams. Through this work, Carina has come to deeply value each client’s lived experience and believes that every individual is the expert of their own story. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in collaboration and healing. Carina aims to build strong, trusting relationships that support meaningful, client-led change. She has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Seeking Safety, and Client-Centered Therapy, and draws from these models to tailor care to each family's needs. Outside of her clinical work, Carina enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her 3-year-old son, and tending to her plants and garden.
