Karla Villaseñor, LPCC, has specialized her work in early childhood intervention and mental health providing services in English and Spanish. While Karla completed her undergraduate degree in psychology, she worked at a community clinic completing developmental screenings and evaluations for children ages 0-5, where she supported families in helping their children meet their developmental milestones. This is where she began to find her passion in working with children and families. She then graduated from San Diego State University, earning her Masters degree, after which she continued work in community based clinics working with a largely Latino community, supporting parents in breaking generational cycles and following their own paths in parenting.
Karla's approach to therapy is focused on the importance of the parent-child relationship in the first few years of life and the role that caregivers play. Karla focuses on making therapy fun for the child and the parent, in order to foster connection through play and build the foundation for a strong, safe, and trusting relationship. Karla supports parents in reflecting on their own childhood experiences to further understand the parent's own needs, so they are better able to meet their children's needs.
In her free time, Karla enjoys spending time with her dogs, picnics at the park, reading, and playing boardgames with friends.
