Holiday Survival Guide for Your Family’s Mental Health

The holidays are full of joy and wonder - but also stress. A study by the American Psychological Association found that while more than 70% of respondents often experienced positive feelings like happiness and love during the holidays, 38% of respondents also reported that their stress levels increased. Sixty eight percent of respondents reported feeling fatigue often or sometimes during the holiday season.

Lack of time and lack of money were the two biggest contributors to holiday-related stress; 67% and 62% of respondents reported that each of these factors respectively caused stress. For 47% of respondents, the pressure of giving and receiving gifts caused stress.

During the 2021 holidays, we’re continuing to live through an ongoing global pandemic. We’re also just beginning to grasp the full scope of the pandemic’s impact on child and family mental health. In October, a coalition of mental health experts declared a national emergency in children’s mental health.

The holidays have the potential to exacerbate some of those existing challenges that children and families are facing. If you’re like many families, you’re probably looking for a holiday survival guide so your family can have a holiday season full of gratitude, peace, and cheer.

If you want to support your family in navigating this year’s holiday season with more peace and fewer worries, Little Otter is here to help.

That’s why we created the Holiday Family Mental Health Toolkit. This is our gift to families nationwide!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Take a quick quiz about how your family is doing.

  2. Get a personalized report that evaluates your family’s mental health.

  3. Immediately access a therapist-approved activity guide to cultivate gratitude, mindfulness, and self-awareness.

  4. Save your spot for the free Supernow class so your child can learn how to express their feelings more clearly.

  5. Review the family mental health gift guide to support the mental health of the children and caregivers in your life.

The Holiday Family Mental Health Toolkit’s quiz and personalized report are the foundation of your holiday survival guide.
